Pebble Prominent

Just because it look great!

From my Moth Trap at Spurn sometime last summer. Just because its looks great! It’s a Pebble Prominent Moth Notodonta ziczac. Apparently common across Britain and it’s on the wing now.

Not only does it look good, it sounds good! In English or latin. This goes to the top of my list of scientific moth names. Admittedly, that list has so far had only one entry, the magnificent Plutella xylostella, heard on Charlie Moores’ great video of wildlife at Portland. Now Notodonta ziczac goes straight in at number 1.
