Looks like a proper Thayer’s Gull!

Enniskillen, N. Ireland

This bird has been around for a little while at the dump (where else?) at Enniskillen in N. Ireland. Brad Robson found the bird about 2 weeks ago. Derek Charles, on the ball as ever got in touch this morning. He had views and got great photos yesterday. Wow! Looks the full biscuit and rather typical looking juvenile Thayer’s Gull. Don’t you think?

P.S. and have a look at this one from north Co. Mayo a couple weeks ago. Corker on the water! Flight shots a bit affected by low afternoon ‘harsh’ sun. So a couple juvenile Thayer’s Gulls in Ireland then. UK next?

Hi Martin – this bird brings back memories of the tentative THAYER’S type at Poolsbrook in Derbyshire some years ago. Not an expert on Thayer’s but I always felt it had good potential. I’ve got photos on my archive section on my website @ http://www.simplybirdsandmoths.co.uk

    Kind rgds

No doubt you have seen this one Martin?
